Step 10: Approaching your shiny frame

Once you're about 50 to 20 frames away from your shiny frame, you'll want to be more careful. You'll have space to mess up as long as you don't save, so while you want to be cautious, don't worry too much.

Hitting these 50-20 frames, though, you can stop quick frameskipping. You're done with this. Do your usual Roto Loto saving. Keep note of the day (or how many frames away) you're saving on.

Now let's go to your den.

Remember in step 6 when I mentioned Invite skipping - or rather, skipping without needing NSO? We'll be doing that now because you don't need to set up for it, and it's faster with fewer frames. Which applies to us here.

So, first let's make sure you're offline. You can do this by going into Y-comm and seeing if the + option says "Connect to the internet." If this is the case, you're offline! If it says "Local Communication", then you should press +, as we want to be offline (or rather, in local mode) when doing this.
Note: You are capable of doing this online, but I advise against it just because it can be annoying to people.

You can also tell if you're online or not by the color of the Y-comm in the corner. The background is blue if you're online, and white if you're offline.

Now let's go into your den. Inside, press "Invite Others." Keep in mind that no one should be joining.

Next, while your game remains in this screen, let's go to your console's Home.

The same way you did frameskipping, go to your Settings, System, and Date and Time. Set the date forward by one.

Now let's go back to your game. Quit looking for participants, and it'll boot you out of your den.

Select on your den again.

Is it giving you more watts? It should! That means that you're frameskipping again, albeit a different way. There should also be a new Pokemon in your den.

Now press Invite Others, change your Switch's time, and then come back and exit the den again. The same thing should be happening.

The first time you do this, you want to keep going until you hit the date of your shiny frame. Once your Switch is on the date of your shiny frame, you want to go into your den. It doesn't matter if you invite people or not.

If you've done everything correctly, when you go into your den, it should be shiny.

Once you see whether it's shiny or not (which we'll tackle the options in just a second), close your game. Remember when I had you take note of when you saved during your Roto Loto? You can either go back to that date, or keep in mind how many frames away that should've been. For newbies, it's probably best to just go back to that date in your Switch so you keep things consistent.

IF THE POKEMON WAS SHINY...

Congratulations, you did it! You landed on your shiny frame!

But now you'll have to do the Invite skips you just did all over again. However, you can save three dates in advance to minimize the amount of Invite skips you'll need to do if you're rouletting, which... I'll get to in one of the hosting instructions.

Especially if this is your first time, I know a lot of people like to save a little further away to leave room for error. So maybe save 6-10 frames away and keep Invite skip practicing, until you get the hang of knowing when to expect your shiny frame.

IF THE POKEMON WAS NOT SHINY...

You might want to check your frames again! Refer back to step 9.

Alternatively, exactly when to check your shiny frame may confuse you. Here's another infographic:
